It just looks like random roster changes for the sake of change that don't show much direction. Especially the dmen and goalies. It was a really good team last year. Not sure they felt so many changes were needed. They weren't having major cap problems even if they signed Hamilton to that deal.

Should have signed Hamilton long-term and worked from there.

With Hamilton they had the best top 3 blueline. Skjei is who I think is overly reliant on Pesce as his partner given his contract. Would have unloaded him. Goalie moves were weird too. Lateral moves at best given they finally got good goaltending this year.

The Canes need to get Svechnikov under contract. Even with that they have plenty of cap space. My guess is they feel they are a playoff team now and they are saving cap room to be active at the in season trade deadline.

I understand if they couldn't or didn't want to resign Hamilton. Happens.

The goalies confused me the most and Jake Bean trade.

I think they will still be in contention.

Thing about Jake Bean is that he's not very good. Well, he might be good, but he never plays. And when he did play it wasn't great so...

Goalies are a coin flip.

Waddell says they have their eye on another forward whether through free agency or as a trade, but they want to get Svechnikov signed first and see wat money they have left and how big they can go.

The Hamilton thing absolutely sucks, but it is what it is.

I agree the Bean trade was a head scratcher. I always thought he was going to be an excellent pp guy in the nhl. Maybe I was wrong but far too early to trade him.

He had a much better year playing in North America last year than he did bouncing around teams in Europe. Not sure he'll ever be the scorer he was projected to be, but a big, 10-15 goal scoring bottom 6 winger is possible.

Dunno why they didn’t land Tatar to bump Nino to LW3.
